Case IH owners are now able to make better-informed farm management decisions based on both real-time and historic data generated by their machines, with the launch of AFS Connect, a connectivity solution which integrates proven elements of Case IH Advanced Farming Systems technology to link farm, fleet and data.
AFS Connect combines the capabilities of the cloud-based MyCaseIH.com web platform – which is the central hub for owner management of data and provides access to other features such as operator manuals and how-to videos – with the AFS telematics portal on the platform and the AFS Connect Mobile iOS/Android app to automatically monitor, display and store machine and field data, and allow users to monitor and manage it both from an office computer and remotely from a smartphone or tablet. With permission, Case IH dealers can also monitor machines to help ensure they are operating at peak performance and remotely identify any issues, through our Remotes Services solutions.
The mycaseih.com website and AFS Connect app have two data management sectors — fleet management, and data management — that users can monitor and manipulate from any desktop, tablet or mobile device. An AFS Connect subscription provides an unlock code, while a modem is also required.In the cab, AFS Connect works with AFS Pro monitors.
Efficient management of machines and fleets
The Fleet Management portal allows owners/managers and operators to monitor machine data such as engine hours, temperatures, engine speeds, fuel consumption and services due via the in-cab display or the web portal or the app. These data are constantly recorded and updated automatically and seamlessly. Customisable phone texts provide alerts if the tractor operates outside a preset value, such as a certain engine rpm or operating temperature. This aids planning and execution of maintenance.
AFS Connect creates instantly transfers and records data via the cloud and monitoring without the need to use a USB drive for data transfer between tractor terminal and desktop or laptop computer. With datagathered in real time on the internet via the cloud, and immediately available for analysis, users can monitor their machines via their PC or smart device. If an issue becomes apparent they can quickly be notified of it – and, with permission, so can their dealer, who can also – with permission – monitor the machine and provide notification of any issues – and, where possible, remote diagnosis of any problems, using the new Case IH dealer Vehicle Management System (VMS).
Any data gathered – even that shared with those who the tractor owner has chosen to give permission, such as the Case IH dealer or a third party such as the farm’s agronomy company – remains the property of the machine owner. There is a 30-day trial period and opt-out for data sharing.
AFS Connect will be available on any Case IH tractor or combine that can be fitted with telematicstechnology, including Maxxum, Puma, Optum, Magnum, Steiger and Quadtrac tractors, Axial-Flow combines, Farmlift and Patriot sprayers.
Farm management made easy thanks to new partnerships and acquisitions
In further developments set to help customers benefit from simplified connectivity between the various items from different manufacturers in their farm equipment fleets, Case IH parent company CNH Industrialhas purchased farm management information system designer AgDNA.
When linked with Case IH AFS Connect telematics, AgDNA’s specialist software, which co-ordinates and standardises data, mapping and analytical tools from different sources, allows mixed fleet owners to view everything in one place, helping make decision-making faster and more precise.
Another notable partnership is DataConnect, which provides manufacturer-independent cloud-to-cloud data management. Apart from Case IH, it works with other equipment from New Holland, STEYR, John Deere and Claas. Customer benefits include the ability to exchange data via a common interface, and control and monitor their machinery fleet using their favourite system, without any compatibility issues. Data is accessible through any of the relevant manufacturer portals, but is also exchangeable in real time between systems. While for now it handles data including current and historical machine location, fuel level, working status and forward speed, further development will allow transmission of agronomic data.
DKE Agrirouter, a universal data transfer hub, now also includes CNHi among its members, alongside eleven other machinery partners, including key implement manufacturers. Designed to help ensure compatibility of tractor and implement data management systems, there are also over 20 app creator partners, including Agravis, FarmFacts and MyEasyFarm. Customers will benefit from DKE Agrirouter’sability to link vehicles to services, providing a connectivity and data forwarding platform.
